♦ Synopsis

The Greener Pastures will be a short, two to three episode, non-linear, comedy series about the The Evergreen State College and its respective city, Olympia. It’s home will be on the web.  Each episode deals with a certain trait about Evergreen’s campus and Olympian lifestyles. The episodes will be updated online bi-monthly, and continue on over the summer.

In preparation of my project, I plan to initially take week one, and put out fliers requesting extras and crew. Although I can’t rely on the fliers completely, this will be in attempt to bring in interest toward the small set of films. In the same week that the fliers are created and put out, I will also purchase a copy of the Final Cut Pro: Visual Effects DVD from Adobe.com. The purchase of the DVD is strictly for visual techniques, and for practice with Final Cut Pro. Editing video for comedy takes a certain skill and eye, and with the help of this DVD, the transitions and effects that are specific to comedy, I will be able to master, hopefully by the end of week four. I’ve asked various people in class to aid me in this endeavor, primarily Sean Parker who’s knowledge in FCP greatly surpasses my own.

In week two, during the weekend I plan to take the DVX camera out to shoot and play around with it. The great thing about the Panasonic DVX is the picture quality, and since I want my videos to look as professional as possible, I will take a week to play around with it. For example, get acquainted with the settings, figure out the best filters for different lighting inside and outside, take along a small monitor to see how crisp the colors are, ect. I’ll take example footage and figure out what I can do to make them better, along with the help of Dave Crampton.

Week four is when I’m going to prepare for the shooting of the GP opening credits. The opening will only be about fifteen seconds long Inspired by a Sony PSP ad, the opening will be a unique version of stop-motion, along with post editing techniques done in Final Cut and AfterEffects.

Anything that people can to help will be greatly appreciated. There is a budget, so if you help, I’ll totally get your back, and treat you to a dinner or lunch. All that has to be done is acting or crew. Otherwise, I’ll make sure you are comfortable. Also, I am free to help if one needs help on their own project with crew or post production.

O – TESC TV – Poking fun at the college’s TV station. (98505, Two and a Half Blacks, As The Stomach Turns ((soap opera about The Greenery)))
O – RA Episode – RA gets busted over fixing misspelled graffiti.
O – Musical Episode – KAOS Radio and a lame attempt to get a demo tape played.
O – Musician Episode – A smaller episode of popular pop songs played on acoustic guitar played outside of Cafe Vita.
O – The “Lifetime Movie” episode – A parody of the Lifetime movies based around campus instead of a high school.
O – The Making Of “The Greener Pastures” – Based off of 30 Rock
